I started out competing in many of the ball sports including football, basketball and baseball. I got my start into the running world as a sophomore in high school. After being cut from my high school baseball team I asked if I could join the track team and then the rest was history. I had a slow start in the sport, but started to find love and dedication for the sport and did well enough to earn an opportunity to run in college.
I competed for Indiana Tech in college and was able to be a part of several cross country national championship meets with the team as well as several track and field national championship titles. I started out focused on the steeplechase, but quickly found my strengths lied in the 10K and 5K running PRs of 31:48 and 15:36, respectively.
After college, I continued to run post-collegiately while in graduate school where I ran a half marathon PR of 1:13:20. I took a few year break from the sport to focus on my career. After moving back to Southwest Michigan (where I call home) I was able to take coaching my alma mater high school's cross country team which has lead to me re-discover my deep passion for the sport, and more so coaching.
I draw much of my training and coaching inspiration from my collegiate coach, Josh Wolfe. A lot of the training concepts come from a mix of great coaches and resources. I joyfully spend hours listening to podcasts and reading information on old and new training theories and principles always trying to improve and adapt training for my athletes.
I hope you will consider letting me coach you and help be a guide to your success in running and in life.
